What we are!
Our community was founded by a group of freedivers in May 2021 after realizing that no such community in the stated of Georgia existed at that time. This community is for anyone who is interested in or has a passion for Freediving, no matter if you've taken a course or not. Our goal is to help develop a community that capable of helping and encouraging the wonderful sport of Freediving in the great state of Georgia and surrounding areas. If you are new to the sport or are an experienced freediver then this community if for you. With your help, we can organize and coordinate meetups where you can practice your *static apnea, *dynamic apnea, and *depth goals by using the buddy system. This way we can all safely continue our journey to becoming better freedivers no matter where you live.

who we are and how we came to be!
We are freedivers just like you, who fell in love with the sport but couldn't find a community. So we decided to create one!
Heres our story.
Since the four of us loved the water and wanted to become better in exploring the ocean (even if it was just to help us become better at snorkeling) we decided to singed up for our first Freediving course during the summer of the 2020 fiasco. We chose a local dive shop in Woodstock Georgia that offered a PADI* Freediving course and ran with it.
Soon after we found ourselves without an instructor and wondering how we would keep up this perishable skill. Also how do we practice to get ourselves ready for the next level of Freediving, or even Freediving competitions if we decided to pursue it.
So we started the search for like minded individuals who felt the same thing. We knew there were other Freedivers in our area because Freediving courses were sold and taught by a couple of shops in the Metro Atlanta area, but they were no where to be found. To keep a long story short, In May 2021 we founded the Georgia Freediving Community for ourselves and any Freedivers in Georgia.
Soon after forming the community, we started receiving messages from free divers all around the state of Georgia. Some with experience and others who wanted to learn more about free diving. During the process we made some wonderful friends and have made some great memories shared with these freedivers. But without an instructor in our state to watch over our community, we soon felt the responsibility and the necessity to provide one for our fast growing community.
After months of training, courses, and practicing, we are happy to announce that we have provided not only our community but the whole start of Georgia with it very own free diver, & mermaid instructor. He is dedicated to continue his development to be able to provide services to all freedivers regardless of the level.
